PROJECT OUTLINE I BOUTIQUE HOTEL DESIGN

The aim of this project was to become familiar with space planning requirements in a public environment, through: • The process of designing in a narrow space where light, ventilation and circulation has to be evaluated, • Decision making on how to make appropriate quick decisions, based on specific design criteria, • And how to deal with vertical movement within 4 story building (126m2 per story).

CONCLUSION I WANDERLUST

In the heart of Johannesburg, a small hotel awaits the wanderers of the universe to come and experience the journey of traveling the world, in just one building. Wanderlust is a boutique hotel with a concept based on “around the world”, but not in an ordinary way. The main shape used in this design is a stadium (or rounded rectangle), which derives from he flight-path seen on every “world travel logo”. The hotel has seven rooms, each based on a different country. The interior of the rooms is conceptually designed according to characteristics of each country. This five-star boutique hotel takes each person walking through the door on a unique journey, whether they’re a tourist, or just a local citizen experiencing a strong desire to travel. Because not all those who wander are lost.
